Joss Whedon, creator of shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and my personal favorite Firefly, opted to actually be productive during the writers strike and start what he is hoping is a new trend in mainstream media. As I am personally a huge Joss Whedon fan, I am definitely looking forward to anything of his while I await his new pilot for Dollhouse. Though the show needs a different name in my humble opinion, I think it is going to be just what I need to fulfill my sci-fi jonesing.
Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog is going to be a musical comedy action short that will be divided into 3 segments and played on the internet for free starting July 15th. After it's premiere it will be sold as a download and they are in the works on a DVD deal with lots of additional footage, and all the other good stuff that comes with bonus materials. There are other reasons that this is going to be awesome other than just the fact that Joss Whedon wrote and directed it, and those reasons would be Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible, and Nathon Fillon as The Hammer(I think that's his characters name anyway).
For those of you who never watched Firefly or it's movie Serenity, Nathan Fillon plays Captain Malcolm Reynolds, and is fucking amazing. Really the whole cast for that show is amazing and if you haven't watched it, well you should.
Anyway here is the teaser for Dr. Horrible.
