Sigur Rós came to town last Thursday (June 12th) and played at the Uptown Theater. This was the first time I was able to see them live and it was pretty awesome. I've been enjoying the new album með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust and I was looking forward to hearing some of those new songs live. I was a little bummed that they only played a couple of new songs though. I've posted pictures and videos from the show here. The set started with svefn-g-englar and ended with gobbledigook. Gobbledigook was my favorite song of the night, which was surprising because it's not my favorite song on the album. For gobbledigook, everyone in the band came on stage with a drummer-boy style drum. A couple of guys from the brass section shot confetti over the stage during the climax of the song. It was pretty fun to watch.
The entire set was great really. I've enjoyed every show I've seen at the Uptown really. The Sigur Rós concert probably had the best sound set up I've ever heard, everyone said it sounded almost prerecorded because the quality was so good. Anyway, I've attached a video of við spilum endalaust below, the rest of the videos and a couple images can be found here.
